Welcome/Kia ora Koutou!
A brief run down on me:
My name is Monica, originally from Wellington New Zealand. In 2009 my husband and I decided to pack up and move to Japan to experience the dream of living abroad as a family.
For the past 10 years my career background has been in Early Childhood Education, graduating with a Bachelor of Education Teach ECE in 2003.
I am lucky to be married to a man with some amazing domestic skills, and has taken over the full time caregiving of our 3 children while I take a break going back to work.
This blog is a bit of a work in progress and a mish mash on family adventures, Japanese art/culture, design, and Early Childhood education.
My moto is to appreciate the simple things in life, and I'm a big fan of the wabisabi world view. If your not familiar with this term.....
"Wabi-sabi represents a comprehensive Japanese world view or aesthetic centred on the acceptance of transience. The aesthetic is sometimes described as one of beauty that is imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.
It is a concept derived from the buddist assertion of the three marks of existence, specifically impermanence. Characteristics of Wabi-sabi include asymmetry, asperity, simplicity, austerity, modesty, intimacy, appreciation of the ingenuous and integrity of natural objects and processes"
